It's coming... I love Autumn so much - it is the best season wherever I go. It is so romantic and nostalgic, like moi? Probably!


Singing has been slow this summer, and I have been ok with that. I have taken so many classes this year, and filled up my time with learning new things, and creating new habits for my life, which has been really rewarding. It hasn't been a good time for me to be singing a lot, sometimes the giving energy of singing is difficult to muster and I have learnt to be ok with that over the years. So I have been filling up my energy reserves with other creative fun until I feel like I can give audiences my best. I think I am starting to feel the itch again!!


..Probably because I have spent the last two weekends sitting in at rehearsals with Gamelan Dharma Swara, which has been really inspiring. I have been working on some songs that are inspired by Gamelan and Bali and my time there as a kid. They don't sound very Gamelan-ish I guess, but the inspiration is there. And I would like to surround myself with a better understanding of Balinese music to complete the songs and write the album. More learning!

I guess my blogging world has moved over from music to food! It's not that I am not doing music anymore, I am! I am working on a couple of different things (album ideas!), playing the regular monthly gig at 55 Bar and enjoying a beautiful place to practice in our Harlem apartment (which I love).

I'm also writing (& cooking) Bessie Pearl's Ledger, taking a class in Children's Book Illustration, also taking a class on Dreamweaver, interning at 3rdWard (where I am taking the classes), working back with the lovely Lotta Jansdotter, reading and generally trying to keep myself as artistically inspired as I can.

Bessie Pearl's Ledger just got a lovely write-up in the Kalgoorlie Miner. Kalgoorlie is a gold mining town in Western Australia - it is where my Mum's side of the family are from. I am so excited about this article!!
